Glorious Return!

Greetings loyal followers!  Chuck Magnusson here, returning from an almost certain dramatic adventure through space, time, and alternate universes.  Quite a few things going down here and there that required my dramatic gaze.  But now!  I return to a glorious celebration to my victory!  I conquered evil, protected the future of Mankind, and got some nice tail while I was at it.

I also read through Marvel's 'Civil War' for the first time.  Good stuff.

Look what comes out in a month!

Oh so giddy...

Although it has crap for launch titles, I may or may not pick up Super Street Fighter 3D, and take it to the other fighters with the Oh so Famous SAIKYO STYLE!

Since I've returned to this time stream, and playing the CRAP out of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, I decided it was high time to read Civil War, something I've been itching to do for several months.  It was quite great.  And personally, I prefer Marvel to DC  (Bracing for impact)  It got me really wanting to start reading more superhero comics, and not just the occasional obscure non Marvel, non DC comic.

One more piece of gaming awesome.

DOHOHO, I am SUPER Giddy for this one.

I've always preferred Elder Scrolls to Fallout (well Fallout 3 and New Vegas to be exact)  And this is oh so exciting.

Something else even more exciting!

OH MY GOD!  WHY WON'T THE FALL GET HERE!

Seriously, I would kill to get my hands on this right now.
My most anticipated game of the year.
I'm in the beta though.  That was one of the few redeeming qualities for buying Medal of Honor.
And now that I've seen the game in kind of action, I would gladly buy another mediocre game to play it.

One more thing!

I've been playing the shite out of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, so if someone wishes to play me, well I shant deny.

Seeing a pattern here aren't ya?

I must now return to the lab, it's been a pressing few weeks in the space time continuum, and I need a holiday!  A holiday until NEXT weekend that is.

Until then True Believers

Laff's Superbowl Sunday spectacular!... on Tuesday

Hey there, folks! your favorite beard, here, talkin to you about the Superbowl!  No, I don't mean the game, but the stuff that was supposed to be more entertaining than men groping eachother and playing with balls.  First up, the commercials... Now, they didn't show very many OMG commercials, but there were trailers for Captain America and Super 8 (which I will cover next week). Other than that, the ads were "meh".
Next on the list is the game time entertainment.  First up, Christina Agulara did her impression of "Don't Forget the Lyrics" and screwed up the national anthem.  Everyone else was booing, but I was laughing my ass off. Then, for the halftime show, the black eye peas didn't do much better.  There were sound problems, tron people everywhere (which got kinda old) and the light up word "LOVE"started burning out, so it really said "LO 'E" Fergie destroyed a random song, and Usher almost got stuck on the wire... all in all, I found it highly entertaining, but not for the reasons they wanted.

Unfortunatly, no nipples came out to say hello, but there is always next year

Lee's Second Opinion

Since Rob let you drown on the whole Green Hornet review. Let me tell you.
I don't care who said that movie was terrible. They were lying. They are dummies and idiots. I guess some people could argue that the Green Hornet was serious and they took this movie like a joke. I wouldn't necessarily argue with them, but the guy currently writing The Green Hornet comic books is Kevin Smith, so I would say their argument is a bit invalid. Yes, I used to listen to the Green Hornet radio show. Yes, I've seen the old TV show with Bruce Lee as Kato. So you know what? Who cares. This is BRILLIANT. Also I lost count of how many jokes there were insisting that the Green Hornet and Kato were gay together. My favorite came from Britt Reid (Seth Rogan): I think you're blowing this a little out of proportion. "I'll blow him in whatever proportion I want!" Ah, brilliant. Anyway, see this damn movie. It's awesome. It's better than awesome. It's amazing. I couldn't stop laughing. I think I spit all over Rob. It's great. You will love it.

RRR (Rob's random review)

I'm saying its random because I didn't review the trailer, but this movie is too good to pass up (that and Lee probably wouldn't let me hear the end of it if I didn't write about it).  This weekend Lee and I went and saw Green Hornet, which, lets face it, was awesome!  I don't normally like movies with a lot of guns, but I gotta get a gas gun.  The whole movie kept me laughing... not as hard as Lee, who I thought I would need to call an ambulance on, he was laughing so hard, but still, absolutley hilarious!  I hear the mythbusters had an episode dedicated to how just about everything done in GH couldn't be done in real life.  This I gotta see! Anyway, I'm keeping this short for tonight, as I am working on my movie script as well.  But I'm sure Lee will write a review as well, more in depth than myself, so I will leave you wil a 9 out of 10!

Love you!

The Lee-tastic review hour (Or minute, or whatever)

So, so many awesome things happened this week that I wanna talk about. I also need to make up for being sick as hell last week. So I'm gunna talk about a Plot Script for a TV show that I was given a chance to read (The guy who plays Chewbacca is already signed on.), give a short rant about vampires, and then talk about a Web Comic I came across earlier today that I fell in love with.

Firsts things first. Dead Reckoning at High Moon. You won't read anything on it on the web because it's in Pre-pre-pre-production. I mean early stages. It may not even make it to TV. It's a TV show that tackles the challenge of vampires, werewolves, zombies, bat creatures and dream demons in the Old West. It takes ancient Hopi and Mayan legends mixes them together in a way and uses them as the Origin stories for Vampires and Werewolves as well as a slew of other supernatural creatures that I mentioned above. The guy got vampires right and gave them an awesome power that I commend him for. Using their blood to make zombies. It may not be completely original but it's damn cool. From what I can tell it centers around a man named Dallas Blackburn who lost his family to vampires and is travelling with the former Hopi tribe who are now a tribe of Werewolves in order to stop the vampires. There are plenty of other characters including the drunk explorer Hanz, The Billy-Bob bounty hunters(One of which single handedly wields a gattling gun at the end battle.), Father Patrick and his nuns(Father Patrick is a pimp and the Nuns are prostitutes), and Los Docenta Banditos or something like that who at the end become Los Tres Banditos. It's pretty awesome from what I've read and I can't wait till it comes on television. If it makes it.

The second thing is a little rant on vampires. I'm not a big fan of how vampires are being portrayed in media these days. Vampires grow weak in sunlight. Vampires are intimidating, but most of all, vampires cannot be sexual creatures. To put it plain and simple, they're dead. They're are no longer human, and thus they have become above our petty views on sexuality. Sure, they use it from time to time to feed, but it's not something they should favor. If you are already not agreeing with me, let me ask you this question, Would you fuck your food?.

Anyway, lastly is a web comic I came across this morning. I just finished reading it all before I posted. I read alot of web comics like Questionable ContentLeast I Could Do, and Ctrl+Alt+Del. This is a typical web comic about an air headed sexual deviant with a loyal if somewhat violent best friend and strange lovable, but pretty evil pet, and a loyal girlfriend despite his idiocies... Wow, I think I just described an amalgamation of all three of the above mentioned comics. Anyway without further ado I present Nerf This. It's pretty cool.

Anyway, that's all for today. Remember, I'm Lee and I'm awesome.

The Mind of Laff

First off, no reviews this week (expect a lot after the superbowl).  So I have decided to tell everyone about this tv show idea I got last night.  It's about  a woman who wakes up mysteriously in the hospital one day.  I say mysteriously because she knows all about everyone on the planet up to the point of when she wakes up (her knowledge of everyone stops once she opens her eyes,he keeps all the knowledge she discovers while she was out).  The only thing is, nobody on earth seems to know who she is.  There are no dental records, bank statements, her existance has pretty much been wiped off the map... she doesn't even know who she is!  Then this guy finds her while she is walking through a garden outside the hospital, so he starts to call her "Rose" as a nickname.  So now he and she must travel the globe to find out what is going on with her.

I call it "By Any Other Name"
Thoughts?

Laff's TV show review show! Double stuffed edition

No, there is not a show called Double Stuffed.  And if there is, I'm not talking about it tonight!  Tonight, we will be talking about NBC's "The Cape" and the new Syfy show, "Being Human".

First up is the show that breaks  "The Incredibles" rule number one... no capes!  "The Cape" follows the life of Vince Faraday, a good cop (ewll, the ONLY good cop, really) with a loving family.  At least, until he is framed as the criminal mastermind, Chess.  One chase scene and explosion later, and the entire world, family included, thinks he's dead.  Now, in order to fight justice and protect his family, Faraday must train with "The carnival of criminals", in order to become his son's favorite superhero, "The Cape".  Personally, I'm loving this show.  Given, it has some far-fetched moments and a bit of a comic book style storytelling, but hey, it's a SUPERHERO show, so what else can you really expect? It can be a bit rocky at times, but all in all, I think it's just great.  And for that, I am gonna have to give this one a 4 out of 5.

Next on the list is, in a way, a how to guide to live a normal life... well, if you're a werewolf, vampire, or ghost (yeah, I put werewolf first, wanna fight about it?).  Josh and Aidan are just 2... I think male nurses, (they really didn't elaborate that very much) breaking the barrier between werewolves and vampires... No, not in a gay way, they're best friends!  Trying to find a place to live, they find the perfect house for them to be themselves... well, themselves without killing people.  Little do they know that the house is already inhabited... by a g-g-g-g-ghost!  Well, Sally is still working on how to be an effective spirit, as all she can currently do is vanish and knock something over on occasions.  3 monsters living under the same roof? I SMELL A SITCOM!... sorry, I had to... contractually obligated, if I had a contract, that is...  anyway, I love anything paranormal, and I'm excited to see what else will be going on, so I'll give this  4.5 howls out of 5.

so there you have it, folks!  a show about an ex cop in tights and a show about modern day munsters!  As always, I'd love to hear what you have to say, so feel free to comment below!

Oh, and for something completely random, friends and I over at the nerd machine are fighting for a season 5 of Chuck!  So if you're a fan (or if you love me thiiiiiiis much), be sure to visit www.wegiveachuck.com to find out how to get this brilliant show a season 5!

Love you!

MMO Addiction? More like FUNddiction. Hello?

Greetings!  Once again, Chuck Magnusson has returned from some obscure time to blog to YOU!  THE PEOPLE!  This week I feel rather like discussing a few interesting developments in the MMO world!  Interesting things indeed.  I myself am more partial to the World of Warcraft scene, but that game has no part in what we discuss this Saturday Evening!  SHALL WE BEGIN!?

The first thing I aim to discuss is a rather huge development.  Namely, the release of...

DC Universe Online!
The game came out this past Tuesday, believe it or not!  I have yet to pick it up, but I do plan on it, maybe...  I WAS under the belief that it would be a subscription free MMO, however that does not seem to be the case.  And I have jumped headfirst into way to many failed MMOs.  So I'll be waiting for a few reviews of this one.  I tell you one thing though:  DC Universe Online has one of the coolest CGI openings I've ever seen!

I am by no means a professional game reviewer though True Believers.  If you have the money, I'm sure the game's a blast.

NEXTLY, some really sweet info about an MMO I own, but have stopped playing!

Namely, Champions Online is going to LOSE it's Subscription Fee.  CRAZY NEWS HUH?!

Champions Online I thought was a very fun MMO.  I had to make a choice about what MMO I played though, and chose WoW over Champions.  I really liked the aspect of creating your own Nemesis, but I couldn't spare 30 dollars for both WoW and Champions.  HOWEVER!  On the 25th, Champions Online will go Free-to-Play.  So I will be spending the next few days, patching the client and waiting.  If any of you True Believers decide to pick this one up, look me up when it goes free to play!  Chuck Magnusson loves his jet boots.

That concludes this weekly installment True Believers!  Two games to waste your life away with!  I will definitely play one!  I must now go!  The Space Orient Express needs me!  When will Alien Species learn to stop naming Earth tours after infamous modes of transportation!? I'M LOOKING AT YOU SPACE TITANIC!

Watch that Kryptonite True Believers!

I bet some of you didn't realize we have a Twitter! We rarely update it, but no more. I have currently deleted my personal account (For personal and drama reasons that no one needs to know about) and linked the NWB account to my phone. So I'll update with Lee-isms from time to time.

What is a Nerd? A poem by Lee Baker

What is a Nerd?
A nerd is a man whose passion is unbound
A nerd is one who is awesome all around
A nerd can answer trivia of all kinds
A nerd can eat a pound of pork rinds
A nerd knows all the worlds notions
A nerd can make a polyjuice potion
So next time someone calls you a nerd
It's not a bad thing. That'd be abserd

Laff's TV show review show! Bob's Burgers

Have you ever been watching a marathon of Supernatural, look at the time, and all of a sudden it's Wednesday? Whoopsie!  Anyway, I'm not here tonight to talk about this awesome show... tonight I will be talking about the abomination that is "Bob's Burgers".  Now, it takes a lot for me to not like a show, but this managed to pull it off.  I have only seen the pilot episode, and I didn't laugh once.  The animation is shoty, they tried to hard on the jokes, and all in all I just didn't like it (in case you couldn't tell).  If I were the tv health inspector, I would close this show down faster than you can change the channel.  The main voice guy should stick with Archer...

Woodstock for Nerds? I think yes.

Greetings True Believers!  It is I!  I have come back to the Future, just to enlighten you on some of the music that exists for us Nerds!  And with this short but sweet Introduction: LET US BEGIN!

Welcome to the first actual Holiday Free Saturday Night Nerdstravaganza!  With me, your host: Chuck Magnusson!  The holidays have kept me busy, True Believers, but luckily I am back in the saddle this weekend!  Luckily there are quite a few things to discuss!
Tonight, Music will be the focus of my presentation.  Fortunately I've gotten three bands, all Nerd focused really.  These three bands only share one thing in common:  They really like costumes.  NOW!  Step into my Lab and we shall begin!

The first band we discuss is one of my favorites personally...

The Aquabats!
The Aquabats are one of the craziest, zaniest bands around.  Once just regular people, living out life on their home island of Aquabania, they fled to California when the island came under attack by the nefarious Space Monster M.  They were discovered by Professor Monty Corndog on the California shore, and given Super Powers through experimentation, along with some musical instruments.  Now they aim to conquer the world with their music, hoping to raise an army to assault, and retake their homeland of Aquabania.  Pretty harrowing stuff.  Also, one of their members is a robot.

The Phenomenauts

In the 33 1/3 Century, The Phenomenauts journey through space, seeking out new life, to boldly go where no man has gone before, etc.  Surf rock is the tune of this band, as they give off a real 50's/60's space exploration vibe.  The Phenomenauts are the alpha squad for a future spin on the United Federation of Planets.  I also really enjoy this band.  They branded their unique space surf rock: 'Rocket Roll.'  Oh, and they have a robot in their band.  That counts for quite a bit in my book.

GWAR

Eons ago, there existed a group of warriors, who ravaged the Galaxy, hating most everything that was alive.  Eventually however, they grew too strong, and were banished to a planet for their heinous crimes. The planet Earth to be exact.  As millions of years passed, they slumbered, encased in ice.  But as pollution from our societies grew, their prison melted away.  Now they walk the planet, dedicated to destroying the human race.  They are also the sickest band in metal history (according to them).

And there you have it true believers!  Three bands, three unique genres, ALL NERD!  I believe I have overstayed my welcome in this time period.  I must now return to the past.  I just received a note from  Franklin Roosevelt.  Apparently, he needs some help cleaning out his basement.  I just skimmed it really, something about a baseball and a giant marauder rat or something.  Gotta go!

'Till next time True Believers!

Lee's PC Hall of Fame: Roddimas of House Engal

Character Name: Roddimas of House Engal
Game: Custom Medieval Fantasy Game
Type: Human
Player: Steve

Why he is awesome: Roddimas is a noble, and a far out one. This is a game in which I started out as a player and ended up as a GM. (Don't ask how). Anyway, Roddimas, while being a great warrior, is also damn good at talking his way out of (And into) trouble. Apart from collecting a trophy from every foe he's ever fought, putting his friends in danger in order to meet his goals, and hoarding treasure like there is no tomorrow, Roddimas is truly an irredeemable badass. I mean the man addicted a teammate to a drug in order to get a loyal follower. (Said teammate was killed because of said addiction). When I was still playing he used my character as collateral and I had to play a temp a character in the mean time. I lost my temp character when he shoved an enchanted helmet onto him that turned him into a hulking monster. Let's just say, no matter how awful the character gets, the player who I shall simply call 'Steve' is so freaking believable and into his character that alot of the time me, the original GM, and the players have to remember not to call him Roddimas. Also he bribes me each session with my favorite treat of all time. Twizzlers.

no trailer trash this week

Well, it looks like everyone in the entertainment biz had the whole week off last week, so there is no Trailers for me to review... I know, I know, it sucks... next week should be different, tho

Deep Elm on New Years Eve

This is Dan with a band I am currently promoting. Lee 'Oh Shit That Hurt' Baker and myself went to a concert of a band in which one of our friends is the Lead vocalist, Echelon High, in Deep Elm in Dallas, TX. Lee was there long before I was and I only caught two song from the first band but was there for Echelon High. The show was really good and several of us almost stated a mosh in the club so I recommend looking in to this band if you like a twist of electrica in your rock or industrial rock. I will leave a link to their Reverb Nation page so for those of you who are interested can hear a few of their songs. For future reference my Classic Rock Challenge is on pause until further notice.

First off, I know its a bit late, but I just thought I'd say happy new year! Also, Lee... "last day of the new year"?  That doesn't make any sense... I think you meant last day of the year, but screw it, I'm not changing your post.

Happy haloween
Happy birthday
